How do I obtain neosmt?
  Follow these steps:

1. Enter the Download Center
2. Select the Neos version you want to download (we recommend the last update)
3. Complete the download form. In order to download the product you must accept the End User License Agreement.
4. Download it to your PC.
 
How do I install neosmt?
  Double click on the install.exe file and follow the instructions of the installation program  
What shall I do upon the event of any problem during Neos installation?
  Check the following steps:

1. Make sure you have closed all the other programs while installing Neos. Sometimes, the fact of running other programs may affect the correct installation of the product.

2. Make sure you have all the necessary licenses for installing the application if you are running Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. If you doubt of having the proper licenses, contact the the system administrator to obtain more information.

3. Make sure that your PC has the minimum requirements for the installation of Neos. If you are a registered user of the technical support of Neos, you can send us a message to soporte@neosmt.com


IMPORTANT: if you are not registered to the Neos technical support service, your message will probably not be replied.
 
How do I uninstall neosmt?  
  Follow these steps:

1. Close the program

2. Click the Windows Start button, select configuration and then the control panel

3. Click twice the REMOVE PROGRAMS icon in the control panel window.

4.Select neosmt from the list and click remove.
 
How do I create in a new account?
  In order to use neos you have to register an account in a Jabber server. In order to do this, follow these steps:

1. As soon as you start running the program, a window named “Profiles” will open, in which you must enter the name of the new profile.

2. Click the register button in the main window

3.In the register account window, complete the entry fields, then select one of the two options:
a)To create an account select “I want to create a new jabber account
b)If you already have a jabber account and want to use it, select “I already have a jabber account which I want to use”.

Select the server where you want to create the account from the server drop down list. (ie: jabber.org). If you already know the server name, you can enter it manually. Enter a user’s name and a password in the corresponding spaces. Write the password again in password configuration.

Once you have finished these steps, the account will be automatically created (for point a); otherwise (point b), it will be registered to the server where it already exists. From now on, neos will be ready to be used.

 
How do I add a new contact ?
  Follow these steps,

To add a new contact:

1.Click the Add button which is on the right bottom side of the main window. The add contact window will be opened

2.In the add contact window select the instant messaging network to which the user belongs. Then select the user’s identification depending on the selected IM service (i.e.: for ICQ users, it is a number; for the MSN users, it is an e-mail address, etc.)

To add a new contact through searching:

1.Click the search button which is in the left bottom side of the main window. The services' window will open.

2.In the services’ window, select the instant messaging network in which you want to search (ie: ICQ Transport). Then click the search button and the search window will open.

3.In the search window, enter the criteria by which you want to search: name, last name, nickname.

 
How do I obtain my contacts from other messengers ?
  Your jabber server must have the corresponding transport installed in order to use the neos with your account from other instant messaging networks such as ICQ, MS Messenger, Yahoo. Neos automatically detects which transports are available on the server and provides the corresponding user interface for its configuration.

Follow these steps:

1. Click the search button which is on the left bottom side of the window. A window called services will open

2. In the services window select the network in which you want to search for the contacts (i.e.: ICQ) and then, click the search button. From this window, you can search people from other networks or register a new transport which will be a link between the Neos and the other messengers (there will be a program for messenger). By means of this transport, one can start a session with users of other networks.

3. When registering a transport to another network, you will have to enter the user id and password that you have in that network. Once you have done this, click the register button. The contacts of the selected messenger will automatically be added to your Neos contact list; therefore, you will be able to establish sessions with them.

IMPORTANT: if the network you are looking for is not on the list or the corresponding button is not in use, this may be due to the fact that the transport to that network is not being run in your Jabber server. Therefore, try this: type the server’s name in the services window and click the browse button to look for this program.

 
What is a profile?
  It is the way by which the application identifies a user with all his/her configuration and preferences. Therefore, the “user’s profile” is the configuration of the messenger’s account (user + password, of a jabber server) plus the secondary configuration or additionals such as the “Gatekeeper”, the alarm preferences, the language, etc.
 
Could it be more than one profile?
  YES. The user can create the number of profiles that he/she desires, but only one active profile can be run at the time.
 
How can I create a profile ?
  In order to create a profile, follow these steps:

1.Click the button identified with the symbol “>>” in the main menu, which is on the top right side of the contact list.

2.Select the Tools option in the displayed menu; select the Profiles option in the displayed sub menu. A new window for the administration of profiles will be displayed.

3.Click the menu button of the administration of profile window; a window “Name of Profile” will open. Insert the name of the new profile. A new profile will be created by the end of this process.

Notice: the new profile will appear on the list of profiles of the administration of profiles window. In order to select it, click on the profiles name and then click select.

 
How do I modify the characteristics of a profile?
  In order to change the characteristics of a profile, you should only modify its configuration. To do so, follow these steps:

1.Click the button identified with the symbol “>>” in the main menu, which is on the top right side of the contact list.

2.Select the Tools option of the displayed menu; then select the Configuration option of the displayed sub menu and make the modifications that you want.

 
How do I switch from one profile to another ?
  This is only possible if one has previously created more than one profile. To switch profiles, follow these steps:

1.Click the button identified with the symbol “>>” in the main menu, which is on the top right side of the contact list.

2.Select the Tools option of the displayed menu; then select the Change Profile option of the displayed sub menu. The profile selection window will open.

3.In the profile selection window, select the profile to which you want to switch and then click the OK button.

 
What do I need to establish an audio/video session?
  To establish an audio/video session, you need to have a Webcam, a microphone connected to the PC, sound card, and loudspeakers or headphones.
 
How do I start an audio and video session ?
  To start the audio and video session, follow these steps:

1.Doubleclick on the contact with whom you wish to start the audio/video session

2.In the session window, click video, thus the video component will open

3.Click the play button from the video area. In this way, you will be asking for video communication.

4.Once the video communication is accepted, the image of the contact will appear (if the image that appears is an animated graphic, this is due to the fact that the person with whom you have started the video communication has no webcam, though he/she will be watching you).
 
Can I start audio and video sessions with my contacts of other Instant Messengers ?
  Not with all of them. This kind of sessions can only be run with messengers that use the H323 protocol (ie: MS Netmeeting, MS Messenger and Gnomemeeting). Obviously, it is possible to start audio and video session with any other user who also is running neos.
 
Can I run only audio sessions (without video) ?
  YES. Simply click play on audio.
 
Can I establish an interactive session if I only have an Internet Dial Up connection?
  YES. However, it is recommended be only an audio session because the video consumes a great deal of bandwidth and the resulting quality can be rather lowand it may spoil the audio signal as well.
 
How can I see the whiteboard?
  There are two ways to access neos´ digital whiteboard:

1. From an open session (you can access it double clicking on a contact from your list -it is not necessary the contact be on line-). Once the session window is opened, you will find an expanding button on the left side that must be clicked; the session window shall be expanded towards the left side, showing the digital whiteboard.

2. From the Contact list. You should click the main menu button, identified with the symbol “>>”, which is at the top right side of the Contact list; once this been done, the options of the menu will expand. Then you should select the Tools option where other options will come up. Select the “new whiteboard” option.

 
Can I see the multimedia panel out of session ?
  YES. In order to spot the multimedia panel out of session, you should click the main menu button, identified with the symbol “>>”, which is at the top right side of the contact list. Once you click this button, the menu will be expanded. Now you should select the option “Tools”, where more options will come up. Select the “Multimedia panel” option.
 
How does one contact another user from the multimedia panel ?
  In order to contact another user from the multimedia panel, you shall simply click “play” both for video and audio. A window enquiring who you want to contact will open; you should enter the “ID” of the person you want to contact.
 
Why is it possible that I can view the message “ … is typing...” at the bottom of the window only with some contacts ?
  The message “… is typing...” is spotted when the other user is using Neos. Otherwise, you might or might not spot that message, depending on the software that the other end is using (ie: with the MSN you can spot it, but with the ICQ, cannot).
 
Can I send messages just by clicking ENTER ?
  YES. In configuration -> Jabber –> Messenger check the label
“[ ] on enter send message”. You can send it clicking ALT+S or the send button.

NOTE: You can also use CTRL-ENTER to go from one line to another in the space where the text is being written.
